Belief Information To Be A Muslim

A Believer has Transacted Himself to Allah

Being a believer is a transaction. A trade. A contract. As a believer you have sold yourself and your wealth to Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ in exchange for the promise of heaven. It’s a concluded transaction and the rest is your faithful execution of the promise you have made to hand over the goods, so to say.

Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ says it best:

Quran 9:111

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah ? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment.

Quran 9:111

It is the same transaction conducted between believers in all of Allah’s سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ several revelations, the Torah, the Gospel and the final Quran. It’s essentially the same deal.

The day you enter into Islam, the faith of submission, you are signed in to a most beautiful and rewarding contract. Your life and death and all your possessions have been staked for the reward of the better afterlife.

The good thing about knowing about this contract or convention is that while it may at first seem tough, the conditions Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ demands of you to fulfill your side of the deal are not so stringent. Compared to humans who demand so much from their employees and drain the life out of them for their meagre wages, Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ gives you a lot of leeway and does not overburden you in His deal with you.

Allah says what means in Quran 2:286:

Allah does not task any self beyond its capacity. …

Quran 2:286

You and all you own belong to Him and yet He allows you to use yourself and your possessions in ways pleasing to you. He allows you to indulge in decent relationships with your spouses and children and allows you to use His wealth in your possession, which you have contracted to Him, to buy yourself and friends and family nice things. In fact in doing these things once done in a Halal (Islamically pure) way, you earn His blessings. What a deal!
